Management culture is a key factor in workplace mental health. Our success is built on genuine care for our people.

Guided by our health and wellbeing ambitions – to prevent poor health and wellbeing in the workplace, promote positive habits, and support recovery – we want to foster a safe, healthy, and inclusive work environment where we provide access to mental and physical health initiatives and support professional growth through continuous learning and personalised training programmes. This allows us to create a culture where employees feel valued and have opportunities to thrive.

Management culture amongst most important contributors to workplace mental health

We know that management culture is amongst the most important contributors to workplace mental health, so we believe that it is important to go beyond individual self-care initiatives. Managers need to know how to support their team’s wellbeing. They also need to practice and improve how they do this.

To this end, in partnership with one of our healthcare providers, we have developed health training for managers. First introduced as a pilot programme in 2024, it has since been rolled out to 12 different countries covering all regions and has been offered to some 450 managers in 23 training sessions in 2025.

Hands-on training targeting mental health awareness

While the training has some theoretical elements, it is mostly hands-on and focused on discussions and practice around multiple relevant topics. These include developing a better understanding of what mental health is; the impact of stigma in the workplace, and the role of leaders and effective leadership practices in supporting employees and building trust.

The training also allows us to share the tools and resources that are available to leaders to address the effects of mental health challenges in the workplace.

Training is mostly carried out face-to-face and on-site, in local languages and is delivered by professional trainers with strong knowledge and experience in mental health. The sessions last half a day and may be mandatory or voluntary. Looking ahead, we aim to continue to deliver this training to at least 500 more managers in 2026.
